Alan Shearer has selected Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, in his Premier League team of the week, following the Foxes’ win over Liverpool last weekend.
Ndidi was part of a Leicester team that dispatched the struggling Reds. The Foxes ran out 3-1 winner, despite going a goal down when Mohamed Salah fired Liverpool ahead.
And Shearer, who was selecting his now regular team of the week for PremierLeague.com, was full of praise for Ndidi. The Nigerian once again put in a fine display, and Shearer praised the midfielder for ‘winning the midfield battle’.
“Gave great protection to the defense when Liverpool was on top, and then won the midfield battle when Leicester hit back so impressively,” Shearer said.
Ndidi has developed into a key player for Brendan Rodgers’ men in recent seasons.
Signed for a reported £15m from Genk back in 2017, the powerhouse midfielder has been instrumental in the Foxes’ rise to being a top Premier League outfit.
A torn abductor muscle ensured Ndidi missed the earlier part of the campaign. But he’s since returned to play his part in a midfield with the mercurial talents of Youri Tielemans and James Maddison.
