Athletic Club’s Raul Garcia will have the opportunity to play his 550th La Liga match against Atletico de Madrid next Saturday and thus equal Raul Gonzalez as the third player with the most matches in the history of the league competition.
After catching up with the former Real Madrid player, the Spanish striker is now only ahead of Andoni Zubizarreta (622) and Joaquin Sanchez (596) in this historic ranking.
Of the 549 games he has played so far in the top flight, he has played 101 with Osasuna, 216 with Atlético de Madrid and the last 232 with Athletic.
Joaquin, who at the age of 40 has confirmed that he will continue next season, is therefore the only active player in LaLiga to surpass Raul Garcia. The Spaniard with 107 goals, also occupies a prominent place in the ranking of the top scorers still playing in La Liga.
Karim Benzema (217), Luis Suarez (177), Antoine Griezmann (157), Iago Aspas (131), Roberto Soldado (129) and Alvaro Negredo (126) are the only strikers with better numbers than the player from Navarre.
