Maja Enters Record Books After Netting Brace vs Everton (Updated: 2 years ago)

Josh Maja entered the record books following his brace in Fulham’s 2-0 win at Everton in Sunday’s Premier League fixture, Nk Media reports.

Making his second appearance for Fulham since joining on loan from Bordeaux, Maja became the fifth Nigerian player to score on his first Premier League start.

The first Nigerian to achieve the feat was Efan Ekoku in May 1993 and was followed by John Utaka in August 2007.

Peter Odemwingie became the third Nigerian in August 2010 and up next was Alex Iwobi in March 2016 during his time at Arsenal.

Maia’s brace helped Fulham pick up their first-ever away win at Everton in league competition, on what was their 28th attempt.

Coming into the game, they had lost each of their last 22 away league games against the Toffees.
