Federal High Court Lagos shut down as JUSUN begins Strike

Federal High Court Lagos shut down as JUSUN begins Strike (Updated: 2 years ago)

The Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos has been shut down by members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) who are enforcing an indefinite nationwide strike.

It was learned that the workers arrived at the court premises before 9 am and instructed their colleagues in courtrooms and offices to comply with the industrial action.

They sealed some of the offices and pasted notices indicating the commencement of the court shutdown.

Recall that JUSUN national leadership had ordered that courts be closed from Tuesday until the government grants financial autonomy to the judiciary.

The union in its circular on April 1st said the strike was necessary after it issued a 21-day ultimatum to the government to implement the financial autonomy of the judiciary as from March.
