The controversial All Progressives Congress (APC) factional leader in Zamfara State, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa has urged his teeming supporters not to recognize any executive declaration about the “so-called congress under Governor Bello Matawalle’s faction of the party.”
This was contained in a statement by the Spokesperson of the group, Alhaji Bello Bakyasuwa Maradun issued to newsmen in Zamfara State on Saturday where he insisted that based on facts and evidence, the Matawalle faction had not conducted any congress in Gusau on Saturday, the 13th of November, 2021.
Bakyasuwa who accused the Mai Mala Buni-led caretaker committee of taking sides with the Matawalle faction of the APC insisted that their congress conducted on Saturday remains valid and the most popular.
He described the congress by their faction as the most peaceful ever in the history of the state and assured that APC Yari/Marafa faction would remain alive to promote democratic values and ideals that would see to the transformation of the state.
He noted further that, though the Lawal M. Liman-led party leadership that was illegally dissolved by the Mai Mala committee refused to participate in the congress, they applauded their doggedness of standing their grounds to ensure that justice and rights of the millions of the APC supporters are protected.
Regarding the APC congress conducted by the Matawalle faction, Bakyasuwa said, at the initial stage, what they knew was the congress was scheduled to hold on the 20th November 2021 but swiftly shifted back to 13th November 2021 without intimating all stakeholders, a circumstance that promoted their faction to reject their plans and went ahead to organize a parallel congress.
He insisted that their action of organizing a parallel congress has in no way contravened any provision of the party’s constitution.
On the new executives elected under their platform, Bakyasuwa urged them to demonstrate a high sense of leadership decorum and always go by the wishes of the majority of their party supporters.
Bakyasuwa also assured that their faction would remain supportive of the court action instituted by the Lawal M. Liman faction of the APC until justice is restored.
