ASUU Strike: BUK Directs Students To Vacate Hostels (Updated: Saturday, 19th March 2022, 03:49 AM)

According to a report by The PUNCH, the management of Bayero University Kano has ordered all students residing in the two campuses to vacate their hostels on or before Sunday, 20th March 2022, for their own security.

A statement by the University’s Registrar, made available to The PUNCH on Friday, explained that the action by the management followed the extension of the ongoing warning strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of the University for another two months.

The statement which was signed by Information and Publication Secretary, Bala Abdullahi, on behalf of the Registrar, notified students that the management would also from the said date, suspend the provision of all municipal services to the hostels.

According to the statement, the steps were adopted to “forestall any unforeseen act of criminality, as well as the attendant consequences.”

Abdullahi explained that the Management had also approved the suspension of the students’ on-campus job scheme until the resumption of full academic activities.
