Cheque is currently signed to Penthauze Music, a record label owned by Nigerian rapper, Phyno and he was formerly known as Kyle-B.
Cheque’s musical journey started off during his school days at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). He studied Chemical Engineering at OAU and graduated in 2017. Before his breakthrough and record deal with PentHauze music, he was formerly known as Kyle-B, a name that was given to him by Zamorra, a fellow Nigerian musician.
Influenced by Zamorra and other rappers that he listened to, Cheque’s music career started in 2015 while he was still in school and after he graduated in 2017, he relocated to Lagos state in pursuit of a career in music. He was among the contestants in Reminisce’s ‘Murk Reminisce’ challenge in 2018 and got a message from the Penthauze boss during that period. Cheque landed a record deal with Cruel Station and released his first EP “S.O.O.N” (Something Out Of Nothing) under the label.
The name ‘Cheque’ was gotten in an event where he repeatedly said the word “Mic Check” and the crowd continued to call him that even after the show he styled it to “Cheque”. The ‘Superboy’ came when he was trying to get a username for his Snapchat and the idea of the name came to him randomly.
In February 2019, he got officially signed to Penthauze Music owned by Nigeria’s biggest Igbo rapper, Phyno. Under the label, he released numerous singles and his second EP ‘Razor’. The EP got him his first hit song ‘Zoom’, a song that made him more popular and also got Davido & Wale featured in the remix.
