The clasp follows a solid first week for Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic (Banku Music/emPawa Africa), which has topped at No. 1 on Apple Music in 28 nations since dropping Feb. fourth, gathering more than 30 million streams across DSPs.
Director Dammy Twitch (Burna Boy, Davido) rudders the noir video for "Focus," which cautions against the threats of liquor addiction and driving under the influence. The trendy, ill-humored visuals represent a hazier tone for Joeboy, a sentimental expert of radiant, short, and sweet love tunes like "Child," "Starting" and "No one," his 2020 joint effort with Mr. Eazi and DJ Neptune.
Expressively, "Focus" (produced by Ghana's MOG) is a melody about lonely love "and someone not being clear about their expectations with you," Joeboy says, taking note of that the verses depended on circumstances experienced by one of his makers, Dëra, during the creation of Somewhere Between Beauty and Magic.
